BIOGRAPHY
A BRIEF HISTORY
With over 17 years of experience crafting original music and sound design for film, television, and media. My work blends orchestral cinematic scoring with electronica, ethnic influences, and innovative sound design, always tailored to the story, characters, tone, and emotional arc of each project. Originally a guitar player, I discovered my true passion for film scoring in the year 2008 and have since dedicated my career to developing a distinctive, modern style that resonates with audiences and enhances the visual narrative, earning international recognition with two pre‑selections for Best Original Score at the prestigious Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano (Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema) in 2020 and 2023.
FILM SCORING CAREER
I have composed original scores for Panamanian feature films including Operación Causa Justa (2019) and El Sacrificio (2022). Both scores earned pre‑selection for Best Original Score at the Premios Platino del Cine Iberoamericano (Platino Awards for Ibero-American Cinema).
Currently in post-production, my latest feature film project, Te Puedo Escuchar, is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
My work also includes composing original scores for local documentaries such as Belisario: Arquitecto de una Nación and La Gesta del Canal, as well as the acclaimed documentary series El Libro Oculto for Panama’s National TV Channel 11 (SerTv). In addition, I have contributed as composer and sound designer on numerous short films.
Internationally, my music has been featured on major television networks such as Investigation Discovery, on the high profile shows Crime Scene Confidential and 48 Hours on ID, also on the popular TLC series Dr. Pimple Popper. My compositions have also been heard across top streaming platforms including Netflix, Max, Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, Apple TV, Google TV, and Univision, among others.
COMPOSER FOR ADVERTISING
Gian Carlo is also an experienced composer for TV commercials, with nearly two decades of work collaborating with top advertising agencies such as P4 Ogilvy, McCann Erickson, BBDO, and DDB. He has created music for major clients including McDonald’s, DHL, Digicel, Sanofi, the Panama Tourism Authority, Peru, and many more.
SEMINARS AND LECTURES
Gian Carlo is deeply committed to education, helping young aspiring composers launch their careers in modern music composition and sound design. He is frequently invited as a speaker for film scoring lectures, seminars, and workshops at public and private events, including Panama City’s National University. Additionally, he occasionally organizes his own lectures, masterclasses, and events, often sponsored and supported by leading VST instrument and audio plugin brands.
